Continuing the theme for this week, Lisa and I saw Into Great Silence, which was getting rave reviews and was once described as a movie that “if you don't think you have time to see this movie, then you have to see it”.
Without any words, this movie portrays a world of solitude and solmnity, and yet, doesn't got so far as to be sombre. Some of the monks are interviewed as I put it, by simply having them stare into the camera. For 45 seconds, you have a very intimate moment with these men who dont speak at all, and are pretty much in constant prayer.
It was playing at the Luna cinema in Leederville, and itself had so much character, that I can see us going back there for more cinema, and perhaps taking a quite drink before hand in their very groovy lounge.
