Jamie Oliver’s Recipie
So. Darn. Good. The gravy is rich and sweet. I only did 2 shanks, the recipe calls for 6, so I had a lot of extra sauce left over.
my favourite memory of the Amiga 500 with Three floppy drives (ehem)
Spaceballs: 9 fingers http://youtu.be/Nln80hiP5AY
The Asian (Japanese?) characters are flicked up to the screen as part of the memory management routines in order to present a visual experience to fill in the gaps caused by the CPU was busy moving blocks of memory around. It’s fun to watch how some of these sequences are longer than others and how they seem to convey a sense of urgency.
Consider also there were no such things as video codecs. This was basically all written in straights home code.
And the soundtrack was written as a mod file, essentially a music script file, which is a dedicated sound chip which could be coded in advance and run in parallel.
And the whole thing fit on 3 floppy disks, 880 Kilobyte each. I had my (ehem) 3 floppy drives on a daisy chain and was basically rocking it.
50 gallon rain barrel
MasterCraft 1/10th HP inline pump, 360GPH max.
Watered an area about 5 sq.m
Just as the soft rains fill the streams,
pour into the rivers and join together in the oceans,
so may the power of every moment of your goodness
flow forth to awaken and heal all beings,
Those here now, those gone before, those yet to come.
By the power of every moment of your goodness
May your heart’s wishes be soon fulfilled
as completely shining as the bright full moon,
as magically as by a wish-fulfilling gem.
By the power of every moment of your goodness
May all dangers be averted and all disease be gone.
May no obstacle come across your way.
May you enjoy fulfillment and long life.
For all in whose heart dwells respect,
who follow the wisdom and compassion, of the Way,
May your life prosper in the four blessings
of old age, beauty, happiness and strength.
Sick to death of people telling what I can and can’t have in my password. If I want punctuation, I should be allowed.
I even had a site the other day tell me that my password had to begin with a letter! WTF?!
So Obama laughed at the idea of legalizing pot and taxing the crap out of it. Whatever, man. An economy given a bit of assistance from a thing that makes you kinda weird and mellow (not to mention the medicinal uses) makes a little more sense as an economy based on the “gut feelings” of a few hundred coked-up twentysomethings, that places more value on “speculators” than people who actually do work. But that’s cool, we’ll just keep weed illegal and continue to spend hundreds of billions of dollars keeping people in prison who sold some weed and maybe the Mexican drug cartels will just magically cool out if we ignore the problem. Yup.
Too right. The biggest thing I reckon to come from the financial crisis is that it seems that no-one actually knows what’s going on, or how to fix it. Further, when they talk about “investor sentiment” in the press and how it is so fickle, they tend to not include themselves in that group. Perhaps they should.
The Long Johns had a great skit on it.
Further information on the move. I’m keeping EasyDNS, because if I ever choose to move away from GoDaddy then it should very easy. Also, the EasyDNS web admin is so friggin’ awesome, and doesn’t care if what you configure your IP’s to point to.
It didn’t cost anything to transfer, but the GoDaddy service cost me AUD$140 for 12 months, and 7L was costing me AUD$103 a month (!!). ‘Twas a no brainer in the end. I get 150GB space and 1.5 TB bandwidth – should be plenty ;P.
Granted, at 7L I had a fully dedicated computer all to myself. But I was using about 1% of the CPU power, and not much of the disk.
They have pre-packaged apps that install on the click of a button. I’ve already installed wordpress for blogs, and a gallery for pictures. They have a boat-load of these apps ready to go (including phpBB and others… )
Plus I get SSH access, although I’ve not done this yet….
All in all pretty good, although the connection to the management stuff can be slow at times, my actual site seems pretty swift.
Update: Actually, it turns out you get what you pay for. And in this instance, I paid for a poor user interface, and pestering emails offering to upgrade my account. But, the thing hasn’t failed yet.
I’ve been trialling evernote, and it seems pretty nifty, it not perhaps a little insecure.
But it’s better than Outlook notes. Of course, I’ve known that for a while, which is why I was using Phatnotes which was awesome when I was running a WinCE smartphone. Now that I’m a crackberry addict, I need something else. Plus, Phatnotes had no way to sync different databases, or even compare them.
The most slick feature of Evernote is the OCR ability, even for handwriting. So need to remember that awesome wine at dinner? Just take a picture, and upload it to your evernote account. Nifty.
Have had a good run with Livejournal, but it’s time to move on.
